Self Guided Cycling Tours
We invite you to indulge your sense of adventure exploring Italy, France and/or Spain on a self guided cycling tour. These unique independent tours are designed to take you places that you have always dreamed of going; provide you with the necessary tools to enjoy exploring the countryside to the fullest; and send you home with a new lust for life! Each of the following cycling routes are custom designed with CIT Tours and include your accommodation, breakfasts, route maps/guide books, luggage transporation between overnight locations and 24 hour telephone assistance. Although an average fitness level is recommended, there is no experience required to participate on any of these self guided cycling programs.
ITALY/TUSCANY/FLORENCE: 8 days from $1229. Here is a winning proposal to discover one of the most famous Italian regions, Tuscany. An area which is famous for its wines, its cities of art and the warm welcome of its inhabitants: the right combination of emotions, scents and traditions to be discovered by bike! From Piazza della Signoria to Piazza dei Miracoli; through Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra. After a short visit in Florence, the first part of the tour brings you to the heart of Tuscany, along the "road of wines" (famous for the production of Chianti) where you will be able to take a break from your bike and sample some of this region's famous wine. After Sienna, the tour continues in Colle Val d' Elsa, the "Bohemia of Italy", then on to San Gimignano (famous for its towers) and Volterra, the city of the alabaster. Lastly, you finish in Pisa, the city of the hanging Tower.

FRANCE/BOURGOGNE/SAINT ROMAINE: 7 days from $1139. Discover Burgundy's wonderful countryside where grapes have provided ample earnings ever since Roman times. Not just coincidence that they call this the "Côte d'Or" or golden slope. Ride the "Hautes Routes" of the "Grand Cru" through this breathtaking wine country. Encounter hidden villages surrounded by dense oak forests and pedal quietly among the renowned vineyards of Pommard, Aloxe-Corton and Meursault. Relax over a glass of Grand Cru during a "dégustation et vente". Taste, compare and fill your saddlebags with some bottles of gorgeous white or red. Discover the fairy tale castles and ancient cloisters which give Burgundy an extra "bouquet". Visit Beaune with its coloured rooftops and extraordinarily well-preserved architecture and atmosphere. There will be no shortage of good restaurants en route, where you can enjoy a tasty lunch or copious Burgundian dinner.

SPAIN/ANDALUCIA/"RUTA DE LOS OLIVOS": 8 days from $889. CIT'S "’Ruta de los Olivo"’ will take you through an almost unknown region north of Malaga, between the famous historical cities of Córdoba and Granada. Daily tours of 26 km to 57km through a sea of olive trees and Mediterranean woods on the slopes of the Sierra Subbetica range. Soft gray-green trees and red-ocherd earth tones, punctuated by white villages in Moorish style; all serenely calm during ‘siesta’ hours yet lively in the evening when villagers emerge to enjoy the coolness outdoors.
