Itinerary

DAY 1
Overnight flight to London, UK
Depart Ottawa for London, Heathrow. We will be arriving in London early on the morning of Day 2.

DAY 2
London - Tenby
After arriving in London, we will make our way overland to Wales. Our final destination will be our hotel in Tenby. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow travelers, some of whom will be joining you from the Shades of Ireland tour. Today, dinner will be included.

DAY 3
Tenby - Swansea
This morning depart for Caldey Island, the location of Caldey Abbey. The Cistercian monks of Caldey continue a tradition which began in Celtic times. More than a thousand years of prayer and quiet living have made this remote and beautiful island one of Britain’s holy islands. Visit Caldey Abbey, which was built in 1910 by Anglican Benedictine monks who came to the island in 1906. Enjoy time to explore the island before returning to Tenby for some leisure time. Then, continue on to Swansea, your home for the evening. Today, breakfast and dinner will be included.

DAY 4
Swansea - Cardiff
An exciting day awaits you! Depart Swansea and head for Brecon Beacons National Park, one of “Britain’s natural breathing spaces.” Explore the park and center of town before heading to Ty Tanglwyst Farm - a 120 acre working dairy farm owned by the Lougher family. Enjoy a comprehensive tour before heading to Cardiff, the capital of Wales and your home for the next two nights. Today, breakfast and dinner will be included.

DAY 5
Cardiff
Today, head to Blaenavon, A UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the Big Pit: National Coal Museum and take a guided underground tour conducted by experienced colliery personnel. Afterwards, travel to St. Fagans National History Museum. Standing on the grounds of the magnificent St. Fagans Castle, a late 16th century manor house, the museum boasts galleries, exhibitions and workshops where craftsmen still demonstrate their traditional skills. This evening, enjoy a visit to Cardiff Castle. After a guided tour of the grounds, enjoy traditional Welsh food, music and entertainment while dining in the historic setting of the 15th century Castle Undercroft. Today, breakfast and dinner will be included.

DAY 6
Cardiff - Bath, England
Depart Cardiff this morning and head for Bath, England. En route, stop at Tintern Abbey, one of the greatest monastic ruins of Wales. Upon arrival in Bath, visit the Roman Bath Museum to see the elaborate spas dating from the 1st century. Tonight, enjoy an evening at leisure. Today, breakfast will be included.

DAY 7
Bath - Wiltshire (Stonehenge) - London
Continue on to one of the most famous ancient sites in the world, Stonehenge. Composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones, archaeologists believe that the iconic stone monument was erected around 2500 BC. Depart for London, a sophisticated metropolis which features style, culture and history. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner. Today, breakfast and dinner will be included.

DAY 8
Homeward Bound
Your tour ends here in London. We will fly out of Heathrow airport for Ottawa. Today, breakfast will be included.
