Whales & Wilderness of the Saguenay

We invite you to join us in exploring the picturesque shore line of Quebec’s Saguenay region. Experience the unique and untamed wilderness of the area while staying at the historic Hotel Tadoussac which is located on the mouth of the Saguenay Fjord. Considered to be the best place to encounter the world's largest whales, our stay here will include a zodiac whale watching tour which virtually guarantees close encounters with these magnificent mammals. Optional sea kayaking and walking tours are also available right off the front steps of our hotel. Our route home will take us through the artists community of Baie-Saint-Paul for a free afternoon to take in its truly unique mosaic of culture and nature. Our final night will be spent in the walled city of Quebec. Enjoy an evening of fine dining in one of the many sumptuous French restaurants and browse the rich history of this famous landmark.

Itinerary

DAY 1
Depart - Tadoussac, QC
This four day trip will leave Pembroke and travel the 417 highway (Eastbound) picking up passengers along the way. Pack your camera and your sense of adventure. Leave your worries and the bustle of everyday life behind. We will stop in Montreal for lunch and then continue on our scenic journey to Tadoussac. We will be staying at the historic Hotel Tadoussac - one of Canada's first trading posts. Located at the mouth of the Saguenay Fjord and in one of the world's most beautiful bays, the Hotel Tadoussac is our launching point for exploring this historic region. Follow this link to find out more about this famous hotel: Hotel Tadoussac

DAY 2
Tadoussac, QC - Whale Watching
After breakfast we will board our Zodiacs just in front of our hotel and explore the waters of the St. Lawrence in search of whales. The St. Lawrence Estuary and Gulf are both rich and dynamic marine habitats. The tide, the Laurentian marine trench and the currents bring together phenomenal concentrations of fish and plankton, "clouds" that sometimes spread many kilometres at a time making this region one of the beast places in the world to whale watch: for whales, it's a veritable outdoors buffet! The afternoon is free for you to explore the quaint town of Tadoussac or enjoy an optional guided walking tour. Today, breakfast will be included.

DAY 3
Tadoussac - Quebec City
Today, we will be leaving Tadoussac after breakfast and heading to Old Quebec City. Enroute, we will make a stop for lunch in the village of Baie-Saint-Paul. This quaint artisans village is nestled in a natural depression, surrounded by rolling mountains, wide open spaces and the sea. It is easy to see why artists are drawn to this small community to find inspiration. Later in the afternoon, we will continue onwards to Quebec City where we will be staying inside Old Quebec at the Clarendon Hotel. Tonight is free to enjoy the atmosphere and fine dining for which the walled city is famous. Today, breakfast will be included.

DAY 4
Quebec City - Home
After our farewell breakfast we will continue homeward to the Ottawa Valley stopping enroute for lunch. Drop offs will occur in reverse order of pick-ups. Today, breakfast will be included.
