DAY 1 - Friday
Depart - Edmundston
We depart Pembroke early Friday morning,
traveling eastbound on the 417 highway. Pick-up spots and locations
will be announced after all seats are booked. Tonight we will stay in
Edmundston, New Brunswick.
DAY 2 - Saturday
Truro, Nova Scotia
This morning, we leave Edmundston and
travel through beautiful New Brunswick. After our lunch break in Fredericton, we will travel
to the Bay of Fundy to explore the famous Hopewell Rocks. Enjoy the
amazing views from the network of viewing platforms and if the tide
is right – walk on the ocean floor. Tonight we stay in Truro, Nova Scotia. Today, Breafkast will be included.
DAY 3 - Sunday
North Sydney, Cape Breton, N.S.
Our morning break is in Antigonish, NS - home of the world famous Scottish Highland games. We then cross the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton Island. A late lunch will be at Rita McNeil's Tea Room in Big Pond, on the shores of Lake Bras d'Or. The atmosphere in the tea house will engulf you in the Celtic heritage of Cape Bretoners. Tonight, we stay in North Sydney. Today, breakfast will be included.
DAY 4 - Monday
Corner Brook, Newfoundland
We board one of the
grand Ferries for our sail to Port-aux-Basques, Newfoundland. After departing the ferry, we travel to Corner Brook where we will stay overnight. The mountains and terrain quickly demonstrate to all visitors why Newfoundland is called “The Rock”. Today, breakfast will be included.
DAY 5 - Tuesday
Gros Mourne & L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland
A short drive take us into Gros Morne National Park. A visit to the Welcome Centre greets us into the park also known as the ‘Galapagos of Geology’. In the afternoon, we travel along the stunning coastal Hwy 430, also known as The Viking Trail, stopping at various points of interest along the way. We will continue to the tip of the great Northern Peninsula. Here, in the famous L’Anse aux Meadow National Historical site, we visit the remains of an 11th century Viking Settlement – evidence of the first European presence in North America. We will be staying overnight in St. Anthony - the hub of the Great Northern Peninsula.
DAY 6 - Wednesday
Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland
This morning we travel back along the Viking Trail to Rocky Harbour. The afternoon is free for you to explore the quaint village of Rocky Harbour. Consider a visit to the Lobster Cove Lighthouse. This historic lighthouse boasts
a beautiful ocean view and is home to an exhibit that interprets how people have lived along this coast and harvested the sea for more than 4000 years. Original, artifacts, historical documents and photographs (many donated by former residents) help to make the story come alive. In the evening, enjoy live traditional Newfoundland music at our hotel's restaurant. We will be staying overnight in Rocky Harbour. Today, breakfast will be included.
DAY 7 - Thursday
Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland
This morning is free to relax and continue your exploration of Rocky Harbour. In the afternoon, have your camera ready for our cruise! The guided cruise tour will highlight the surrounding features of the area such as Gros Morne Mountain, the geology of the Tablelands, the whales that frequent the deep waters of this fjord and bird sightings especially bald eagles. A brief history of the small villages nestled on the shores is also provided. We will be staying overnight in Rocky Harbour for a second night. Today, breakfast will be included.
DAY 8 & 9 - Friday to Saturday
St. John's, Newfoundland
Today we make our way to this Province’s colourful, historic capital, St. John’s. Our centrally located hotel in the downtown area is an easy walk to see and hear St. John’s local music scene and Irish pubs! Two exciting days of touring the St. John’s area are on the agenda. A local professional step-on guide will take us through St. John’s, including the historical sites, Signal Hill, Quitty Vitty, Petty Harbour and North America’s most easterly point, Cape Spear. A true taste of Newfoundland at its finest!
DAY 10 - Sunday
Gander, Newfoundland
After breakfast, we will visit the Johnson Geo-Centre which offers a fascinating holographic presentation of our planet’s amazing life-story; told through the remarkable geology of Newfoundland & Labrador We will return to downtown St. John’s for lunch and an opportunity to browse the shops on the famous Water, Duckworth and George Streets before heading to tonight’s destination - Gander, NFLD. Today, breakfast will be included.
DAY 11 - Monday
Port-aux-Basques, Newfoundland
Today we travel back to Port-aux-Basques
but not before making a stop to see the mighty Grand Falls and its unique
Salmon Fish Ladder. St. Christopher’s Hotel, overlooking the harbour
is our hotel tonight. A special evening is in store as we enjoy a fairwell
to Newfoundland dinner and partake in the famous Newfoundland traditional
‘Screetch In’. BE READY TO KISS A COD!! Today, breakfast and dinner will be included.
DAY 12 - Tuesday
Truro, Nova Scotia
Today, we will cross back to the mainland. Breakfast will be served on the Ferry this morning with an early morning sail back to North Sydney and on to the small Nova Scotian town of Truro where we will stay overnight. Today, breakfast will be included.
DAY 13 - Wednesday
Edmundston, New Brunswick
Today, you are in for a special treat as we make our way west towards Edmundston. We will be stopping in Moncton to experience its famous Magnetic Hill and for a Luncheon “Kitchen Party” with Ivan and Vivian Hicks. Get ready for an feast piled high with music, dancing and a ton of fun! In the later afternoon, we will also visit Grand Falls where we will learn about the legendary Indian Maiden Malabeam and how she saved her entire village. Tonight a farewell dinner in Edmundstun will be
included. Today, breakfast and dinner will be included.
DAY 14 - Thursday
Homeward
Today we head homeward towards our beloved Ottawa Valley stopping for lunch in the Quebec City area. Drop offs will be made in the reverse order of pick ups made on Day 1.
